LAGASSE CLEARED FOR LATE MODEL VICTORY

July 26th, (St. Augustine, FL; 7/26/2000) Fuel test results released Wednesday cleared Scotty Lagasse on his win in the Late Model feature Saturday night at Florida Speed Park. Track officials tested fuel from the top five finishers following the event and were perplexed with the sample found in Lagasse's car #22, prompting an additional procedure to check for possible additives.

"Bottom line is, it was just different than what we are used to looking at," says Speedway manager, Louis Smith. "Everything checked out fine with the fuel, from what's allowed for in the rules."

The victory not only earned Lagasse the $1,000 prize, but also an additional $150 8-Ball bonus for winning from the 8th starting position. Lagasse had outdueled Larry Osteen, Donnie Oden and Jared Allison in a thrilling 50-lap double points event, posting his second Late Model win of the season.
