Adams Breaks All Records in Montgomery USCS Win

(Montgomery, AL; 7/22/2000) Kenny Adams won a season record tying 15th USCS main event, and set another USCS record with his 6th feature win in a row at Montgomery Motor Speedway's famed 1/2-mile asphalt oval, Saturday night. The sixth in-a-row mark retires the five in-a-row mark set earlier in the year by Adams.

All this came after Adams had broken the all-time track record and
lowered the new mark way down to 16.352. Adams teammate, Red Stauffer, also was second quick with an amazing 16.758 as several other drivers lowered the old standard.

Paul Madden led the first two laps of the 30-lap main event before
Adams, who started fourth in the line-up, passed him for the lead he never gave up. The battle for second between Madden, Stauffer, Chris Rogers, and Jim Raptis ensued. Stauffer had moved past Madden into second place by lap 10 and looked to finish there, until he broke a titanium left rear torsion bar stop and slammed hard into the wall entering turn 1, destroying his chassis and ending a good run on lap 27.

Rogers brought the Williams Brothers Lumber #7 home second, and Jim Raptis, Randy Helton, Kyle Hale, Dewayne Prince, Robert Smith, Wesley Hale, Brian Thomas, and Mike Love rounded out the top ten.
Madden ran out of fuel on the restart.

Stauffer and Adams won the heats. Robert Smith recieved the Huggins Cams "Hardcharger" award for passing 10 cars and also the C&R Racing Radiators "I'm Cool' award for his 7th place efforts.

Charlie Huffman was the All Star Motorsports/Hart Racing top rookie for the event.
