Rain forced the cancellation of DeSoto Speedway stock car racing last Saturday night. Five heat races were completed before heavy thunderstorms rolled in from the south and the races were called about 8:00 pm.

In the Contemporary Cabinetry and Closet Concepts Pure Stock Gary Flynn of Palmetto took the heat win. Fred Paravicini of Bradenton won the first heat in the Manatee Lumber Modified Minis with Mike Mitrisin of Brooksville winning the second heat. In the Express Personnel Service Street Stock Jamie Cassidy of Sarasota won the first heat and Joey Barnes of Bradenton claimed the second heat race. "Rain checks will be honored," said General Manager Earl Savage. "We hated to have to call the races but the weather didn't cooperate."
