Orlando SpeedWorld May 19

Defending Speedworld Super Late Model Champ Bill Pratt won his first feature of the 2000 season Friday night simply by surviving the 10-lap heat race.

The heat proved to be a virtual DEMO derby as the cars of point leader Travis Kittleson, Jeff Emery, Rob Underwood, Wayne Anderson, Sid Stites and Ricky Wood all went to the pits with damage from three separate accidents. The cars of Emery and Underwood were trailered for the night while the rest made repairs and returned for the 25-lap feature.

Rusty Ebersole won the heat in the Garrett Fastners Ford Taurus but was unable to hold back Pratt who grabbed the lead at the start of the feature.

Wayne Anderson's Racecar College crew got his car running after he was forced into the wall in the heat and he had made a charge to third spot before being forced out with a flat tire.

Pratt held off Ebersole for the win with Travis Kittleson coming home third even though his car was missing all the front bodywork. David Hart and Morgan Hoover completed the top five.

Lakeland's Chris Fontaine passed Roger Wren with three laps to go to win his first career Late Model feature. Fontaine's Discount Auto Parts Chevy held off a last lap charge from Chad Pierce to claim the win. Wren held on for third spot in front of Russ Thomson and Mike Murphy.

A good field of Dwarf Cars was at the Speedway as the small machines made their first appearance here in three years. Daniel Renay, Mark Landis and Rick Lundeen won the heats, but it was Andre Gagnon grabbing the early advantage in the 20-lap feature as the rest of the field diced for position behind him.

While moving through heavy lapped traffic just past halfway Gagnon's engine blew causing a massive wreck on the backstretch that eliminated the cars of Rick Lundeen, Mark Landis, Mike Land and Marc-Andre Gagnon.

Geroge Landis inherited the lead at that point and was able to stay in front the rest of the way. A late charge netted Charles Moeford second spot ahead of Mario Giard, Michel Fortin and Daniel Renay. Brian Paradis, Alan Cote, Alain Paradis, Bob Quin and Brian Gingras rounded out the top ten.

Jason Boyd took advantage of a tangle between leaders Shain Held and Frank Polly to take his fifth Modified win of the season. Gary English was running a close second but spun with two laps to go handing the runner-up spot to Hank Sanders. Tom Held, Chris Gillespie and English completed the top five.

Kelly Jarrett was going for his eighth Mini-Stock win of the year but his Toyota was no match for the Volkswagen Scirroco of Kenny Hankins who made a late race pass for the lead and his first Speedworld victory. Heat race winner Burt Morse also go around Jarrett to get second with Jarrett, Tim Clark and Eugene Davidson rounding out the top five.

Rich Clouser made his return to the Sportsman division a winning one as he took a relatively easy win in his Quarno's Auto Salvage Chevy. Heat winner Jeff Wright was second followed by Tommy Johnson, Sam Bowman and point leader Russ Shaw.

Duane Freed came out on top of a side-by-side battle with Bill Loomis to take his third Super Stock win of the year. Loomis held on for the runner-up spot oer Carl Peters, Homer Gordon and Bob Wines.

Stan Price won the Strickly Stock feature over Chris Sadowski and Kevin Reese.
