Kittleson On A Roll In Orlando Super Late Models

To say the least, Travis Kittleson is on a roll. After taking a week off, the Merritt Island driver was back in Speedworld's Victory lane Friday night when the checker flew to end the 25-lap Super Late Model feature running his personal steak to three in a row.

Kittleson shared heat race wins with Barry Willoughby and the two made up the front row as the green was displayed. Kittleson roared to an immediate lead as Willoughby got shuffled back early then dropped out with mechanical problems. Bill Pratt took up the chase but had nothing for Kittleson who finished a full straight away ahead of Pratt as the race ran all 25-laps under green.

Finishing behind Kittleson's Bob Steele Chevrolet Monte Carlo and Pratt's B & K Used Auto Parts Chevy were last week's winner Rusty Ebersole in the Garrett Fastner Ford Taurus, Michael Williams in the Your Season Ticket/Wonder Products Chevy and Eric Black, who ran a strong second until having an altercation with the lapped car of Bob Delmastro.

While the Super Late Model race ran green to checker, the Late Model 15-lapper was more like a WWF Hardcore Match as only three cars were running at the finish with Chad Allman seven laps down.

Allman had returned to the fray after being involved in a wild lap two crash that knocked out the cars of Larry Osteen and Heat race winner Chris Fontaine. The cars of Michael Williams and Mike Murphy were also damaged but were able to continue.

Later on, Murphy and Russ Thomson tangled while battling for third spot taking them out of the race. Williams backed up his fourth place Super Late Model finish by grabbing the lead from Kenny Crites to get his first win since taking over the wheel of the Bobby Sear's Ol' Diehard Racing/Ace Hardware/Space Coast Steel Chevy. Crites finished second in his Kerryman Irish Sports Bar machine. Mike Todd dropped out with an overheating car on the last lap but still took third. Thomson and Murphy were credited with fourth and fifth.

The 911 Division made an appearance and when all the stop sticks had been laid down, Bob Hart of the Pinellas County Sheriff's office had taken a close win. Rick Penton of the Hollywood Police Department took second followed by Clark Wagner, Pinellas County Sheriff's office, David Cervantes, Indian Rocks Volunteer Fire Department and Phile Riles, St. Pete Beach Police Department.

Sportsman class honors went to Jeff Wright who kept his Preston's Used Auto Parts special in front of a hard-charging Tommy Johnson to get the win. Sam Bowman made a late charge to nab third ahead of Russ Shaw and Mark Scherer. Kelly Jarrett finally debuted his new Monte Carlo and took sixth. Scherer and Johnson won the heat races.

Jarrett returned in his potent Toyota to lead every lap of the Mini Stock main event, his seventh win of the year. Burt Morse, Jamie Dixson, Wayne Clark and Bruce Bohlin rounded out the top five.

Homer "Lady Killer" Gordon led all the way to win the highly competitive Super Stock feature which was easily the best race of the night. Bradley Johnson used the outside lane to get second ahead of Mike Peppler, Carl Peters and Bill Loomis. Johnson and Peppler won the heats.

Driving a 6-cylinder Chevy Monte Carlo, Kevin Reese held off Stan Price for the Strickly Stock win.
