Crawford captures "Double" at LakeCity

LAKE CITY, Fla. - John Crawford scored a rare double at Columbia Motorsports Park Saturday night, as he won both the late model stock and Florida modified feature events on the half-mile oval.

In the modified main Crawford started the 20 lap run from the outside of row two and had the lead on the second lap and was never headed enroute to the checkers. Richard Ferry, J.F. McClelland, James Feagle and John Mitchell trailed at the line.

A short field of cars signed in for the LMS event and Crawford topped Al Beckelheimer, Jr and Richard Tucker in the dozen lap run for the top division runners.

Trick Thomas looked like the guy to beat in the 20 lap street stock finale but Charles Seroki had other ideas. After Thomas led the first eight laps Seroki took command and ran to the win. Thomas garnered second money ahead of Randall Jackson, Ronnie Cook and Gale Grayer.

The pure stocks ran a 20 lap feature for the first time as William Jerkins waited until lap 18 to get the lead and eventual win. Keith Davis collected runner-up money ahead of Trish Berry, Greg Cook and Pam McRae, the latters third fifth place run.
