New Smyrna SpeedWeeks 2000

Day six proved to be as expensive as day five for the racers
at New Smyrna Speedway. No driver was hurt but alot of
good cars were destroyed. One of the Florida mods decided
doing down the wall was not a bad idea and proceeded to
take turn l and 2 on the wall and taking out part of the fence.

Mike Mechalides of Tynsboro, MA who had won several
nights in the Limited Late Model division saw his car
torn up. Also, Chris Wimmer, younger brother of Scott
Wimmer of the Hooter's Pro Cup series, also saw his car
destroyed during the Super Late Model race. Luckily, no
drivers were hurt only their cars.

In the IMCA/FL MODS it was the #25 that worked his way
past the #00x for the lead. The top five were:

1. #25 - Mike Stacy
2. #5 - Dave Stacy
3. #00x - Marc Kelly
4. #46 - Doug Moff
5. #112 - Mike Fritts

In the LIMITED LATE MODEL division it was Larry Cook in
the #14x on the pole and Brad May, driving the #26 of Mike
Murphy, taking the lead and never looking back. Behind Brad
was the #39 of Mike Greenwell. Top five were:

1. #26 - Brad May
2. #39 - Mike Greenwell
3. #75 - Mike Beyer
4. #15 -
5. #1 - David Logan

In the NASCAR Tour Type/SK Modifieds, it was Jamie Tomaino
in the #99 on the pole. But it was the #14 of Ed Kennedy jumping to an early lead until Eric Beers in the #9 took over. But coming up behind Beers was the #00 of Ted Christopher who took the lead and won the race. Top five were:

1. #00 - Ted Christopher
2. #00 -
3. #9 - Eric Beers
4. #99 - Jamie Tomaino
5. #98 - Doug French
SK MOD: #77 - John Ruggerio

In the SUPER LATE MODEL division, it was the #84 of
Wayne Anderson on the pole and leading for most of the
race. But coming down the frontstretch to get into turn l,
David Rogers in the #11 slipped by Anderson and took the
lead. Then it was Rogers and Anderson fighting to the end.
Now Rogers and Anderson have both won two races each.
Top five were:

1. #11 - David Rogers
2. #84 - Wayne Anderson
3. #25 - Scott Wimmer
4. #61 - Jimmy Cope
5. #34 - Ricky Carlton

In the Sportsman division, it was the #31 of Brian Hollifield on the pole and leading most of the race until his developed engine problems. Then it was the #07 of Ron Lufcy taking the lead with the #8 of Richard Clouser close behind. It was a battle to the end but it was the #07 coming out the winner. Top Five were:

1. #07 - Ron Lufcy
2. #8 - Richard Clouser
3. #95 -
4. #69 -
5. #3 - Ian Hoffman
