November 19, 2006 Jeff Scofield Wins Florida's Biggest Prize KARNAC Staff Report Jeff Scofield took the lead three-quarters of the way to the checkered flag in the 200 lap Florida Governor's Cup. Scofield was never seriously challenged in the last 50 laps as he cruised to the victory, finally getting the win that had eluded his best efforts over the last few years. Jeff Choquette and Jimmy Cope followed Scofield in the second and third positions. Florida Lt. Governor Elect Jeff Kottcamp was part of the victory celebration, on hand to congratulate Jeff Scofield and be a part of the winners presentation. Scofield, recently reunited with car owner Mike Leonard, added the Sunbelt Series Championship to his string of successful outings in recent weeks. Scofield came into tonight's race a mere 9 points behind rival Jeff Choquette. Scofield also claimed the Florida Triple Crown a month ago. The one serious accident of the event actually came during qualifying when, after the front wheel came off B.J. McLeod's #92 Dick Anderson owned race car, he slammed with ferocity into the wall between turns 3 and 4. B.J. took what he described as the second hardest hit in his ten years of stock car racing, and will certainly be sore for a few days. The car had a decidedly destroyed look. In the support race, Ronnie Larson took the win in the 100 lap Florida Mini Stock Challenge Series season finale.
