Sunbelt 125 headlines Ocala Speedway Program August 25
by Jane Smith
Samsula, Fla. (August 22, 2006) Race number 7 for the Sunbelt Super Late Model Series will hit the asphalt at Ocala Speedway on Friday night, August 25. With points for the top five very close, this will be an important race for the" chase of the 2006 Sunbelt Championship.
Last year it was Brian Finney who topped the Sunbelt 125 at Ocala Speedway. Not only did Finney win the race but also set fast time and was top rookie of the race.
"This has always been one of my favorite tracks and we always do good there," said Finney. "I have a new motor and did some testing last week and hopefully we will have a good finish this Friday." Finney was also the 2004 Ocala Super Late Model Champion and definitely knows the track well.
Finishing second last year to Finney was Rich Pratt who also knows Ocala Speedway well. "Brian and I had a great time racing each other last year and hopefully we will both do good this year," said Pratt. "This is my hometrack and I love it when the Sunbelt goes to Ocala."
Rounding out the top ten in last year's race was Wayne Anderson, Jason Boyd, Scotty Crockett, Jeff Choquette, Daniel Webster, Fain Skinner, Brock Oglesby and Scott Grossenbacher. Twenty one cars filled the field last year.

When the Sunbelt returns to Ocala on Friday, it is Wayne Anderson with the points lead over Jeff Scofield. Anderson stands at 563 points to Scofield's 548. Very close indeed. But Jeff Choquette is giving neither Anderson or Scofield alot of space since he is only 16 points behind Scofield with 532 points. Jason Boyd and Mike Bresnahan are tied for fourth in points with each having 515 points.
Hometown boy Rich Pratt is sixth in points with 483 followed by Tim Russell with 458. Brian Finney, Scott Millar, and Jerry Artuso are in a three-way tie for eighth with each having 373 points. For Arutos, this will be his first attempt at Ocala since he did not run the Sunbelt Series last year but the Goodyear Challenge Late Model Series which did not race at Ocala. Hopefully Jerry will adapt quickly to the tight corners at Ocala.
There will be an open practice for the Super Lates on Thursday, August 24 from 5 to 9 pm. Pit gate opens at 5 pm on Friday with racing action starting at 7:30 pm. Along with the Sunbelt Super Late Model 125 will be the 4 Cylinder Stock, V-8 Rookies, V-8 Pure Stock, and Street Stock For more information on the Sunbelt Super Late Model Series go to www.fascar.org.
