Kittleson Preps For Craftsman Truck Debut

Team Release

It has been a busy week for Travis Kittleson – now it is about to get even busier.

And the young Florida racer couldn’t be happier about that fact.

Kittleson will make his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut this weekend at Nashville Superspeedway, driving the #07 Chevrolet Silverado fielded by Green Light Racing. He spent two days this week with the team testing at Chicagoland Speedway and positive results from that test have led to this weekend’s opportunity.

“The test went fairly well,” said Kittleson. “It gave us a few days for everyone to get to know each other and learn how we all communicate. I think that it was excellent to do this before a race and get us better prepared for this weekend.

“That is one fierce track. It turns out that you don’t lift there. You really have to get up on the wheel, lift your skirt up and get going there. It was amazing and I had a blast learning and getting comfortable.”

The Chicagoland test is just the latest opportunity for Kittleson to prepare himself for racing a NASCAR Truck. He has also tested at Caraway Speedway, Martinsville Speedway and the legendary Darlington Raceway in a truck. He’s got laps at Nashville as well, coming in a NASCAR Busch Series machine.

“I’m super excited about this,” said Kittleson. “We went to Nashville with our Busch Series car last year, but qualifying got rained out and we didn’t make the race.

This time around, with the resources of Green Light Racing and the backing of FansFirst.com, Bob Steele Chevrolet and the Fraternal Order of Eagles (FoE.com), Kittleson has the tools to qualify and race well at Nashville.

“I think that we have a pretty good truck and we’ll be competitive. I think that we can qualify well and contend for a solid top 15 finish.”

Even though he has yet to turn a competitive lap in the Truck Series, Kittleson really likes what he sees in the tour and hopes to be able to turn this weekend into the first of many Truck Series events.

“Most racers’ main objective is to get to the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series or the Busch Series, but I think that the Truck Series is just as good,” said Kittleson. “I’ve heard it called the ‘Have a Life’ Series. You can race in the majors and still have a life. The racing is excellent and there are some very talented young guys and veterans out there. I’d really like to be able to make a home there.”
