IT'S TIME TO RACE!!

April 28, 2006 New Owner Prepares Historic Dirt Track for Grand Re-Opening By Scott McAllister Although the track has been silent since October, 2005, the excitement regarding the Grand Re-Opening of Putnam County Speedway Park is building to a fever pitch. New track owner Stanley Lawrence and staff has been working tirelessly to bring the 3/8th’s mile facility back to racing conditions and plans the 1st open practice of the year to be next Friday and Saturday, May 5th and 6th, with the 1st race of the year tentatively scheduled for the following Saturday night, city and county permits allowing. “We are proud of the work we have done so far, and a great deal more we plan to do. “We want to provide a fan and family friendly atmosphere for the racing community while maintaining a quality facility for the drivers and teams. Maintaining a consistent and dependable racing program is essential in building relationships in the racing community.” The 1st practice will begin at 6:00pm Friday, May 5th and go to 10:00pm. Saturday practice will begin at 4:00pm and go until dusk. Practice fees are $20 for car, driver and 2 crewmembers and $5 for each additional crewmember. A rules meeting for all classes will be held this weekend, April 30th at the speedway. All drivers and teams are invited to attend.
