Terry McCarl Unbeatable At East Bay, Continues to Dominate at Volusia

(Sunday, February 12) BARBERVILLE, Fla. -- On an unseasonably cold night at Volusia Speedway Park, the All Star Circuit of Champions WinterNationals saw 6 cars locked into the A-main for the $10,000 finale.

Chad Kemenah, Jason Solwold, Danny Lasoski, Terry McCarl, Joey Saldana, and Craig Dollansky were the Top 6 in WinterNationals points after two nights of racing on February 7 and 8. The February 11th show was cancelled due to heavy rains that fell over most of Northern Florida. Danny Lasoski took the checkers in the first night of All Star action in 2006. Donny Schatz picked up his first All Star win on night #2.

On the final night of Florida action, only 29 cars were signed into the pits as some teams had to head out to make their way back home after a long week of racing. The heat races were won by Greg Hodnett, Jeff Shepard, and Shane Stewart with the Top 4 from each heat transferring to the A-main.

The All Star Haulmark Dash was won by Greg Hodnett. Second was Jason Solwold followed by Dewease, Blonde, Campbell, and Mayes.

Danny Smith dominated the B-main, but Becca Anderson gave him a challenge or two early on before getting up and over the wall on lap #3. Randy Hannagan ran Smith down after the re-start, but didn’t have enough to make a challenge for the lead. Smith led all 12 laps on his way to the B-main victory. Hannagan was second, then Busby, Zemken, Ruble, and Gustin rounded out the Top 6 who would transfer to the A-main.

Terry McCarl dominated the 30 lap A-main from start to finish to pick up the $10,000 paycheck. He took the lead on lap #1 and never looked back. Joey Saldana came from his 3rd place starting position and chased Smith down throughout the feature, but never made a challenge for the lead and had to settle for 2nd. Rounding out the Top 5 were Danny Lasoski who started 5th, Craig Dollansky who started 6th, and Daryn Pittman who started 13th and just made it past Jason Solwold on the last lap to take 5th place.

The All Stars will head back North and take a short break to prepare for the rest of the 2006 racing season which will begin inearly April. More of the All Star regulars are expected to join the tour when the series comes back to the mid-west region for more exciting racing action. In four nights of racing, the All Stars have had three different winners and the first rain out of the season.

Please visit the All Star web site at www.allstarsprint.com for schedule additions and updates and important news throughout the break between now and April. Congrats to Danny Lasoski, Donny Schatz, and Terry McCarl on their 2006 All Star victories.
