| NeSMITH CHEVROLET DLMS ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE ADJUSTMENTS AND ADDITIONS | By Roby Helm
CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series has announced adjustments and additions to its 2009 National Touring schedule. Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, AL will host two events and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL has added a second date to the schedule.
Green Valley Speedway will host the third leg of the Stars and Stripes Spring Challenge Series for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour over the Memorial Day weekend on May 24 with a 40-lap $2,000-to-win main event.
The first two events will be held on May 22 at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL with a 40-lap $2,000-to-win main event, and May 23 at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL with a 50-lap $2,500-to-win main event.
These three point races will feature a $2,000 bonus point fund to be paid to the top three drivers in points over the three-race series. The top point driver will receive a $1,000 bonus, with $600 going to second in points, and $400 being paid to the third-place driver in points.
Green Valley Speedway will host a second NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring event on Friday, October 2 with a 40-lap $2,000-to-win main event. Talladega Short Track has scheduled its second series race of the season on Saturday, October 3 with a 50-lap $3,000-to-win main event.
The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series “Ride For Life” two-seat dirt late model will be on hand on May 23 at East Alabama Motor Speedway and on October 2 at Green Valley Speedway to benefit the American Cancer Society.
Race fans attending both events will have the opportunity to bid in a special auction, and purchase raffle tickets for a chance to take a ride at race speed around the track with their favorite driver. All of proceeds will benefit the local chapters of the American Cancer Society.
These events replace the scheduled races at Avenger Motor Speedway in Greenville, AL which was forced to remove its races from the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring schedule due to unforeseen administrative issues.
NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series officials are still in negotiations with other tracks in an effort to fill out its proposed 30-race 2009 schedule.
