Myers Scores Top-20 at Martinsville, Brown 27th

Martinsville, VA (October 24, 2009) Burt Myers overcame an early incident to score a top-20 in his first ever NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start, finishing nineteenth in the Wyatt Winstead Foundation No. 07. Chevy in the Kroger 200 at the Martinsville Speedway.

Rain delayed the start of the Kroger 200 at the Martinsville Speedway, but there was plenty of action for Burt Myers once the green flag fell. Myers qualified seventeenth in the Wyatt Winstead Foundation No. 07 and ran very consistently in the early laps of his first race in the truck series holding down a top-20 spot in the line-up for the first 30 laps of the 200-lap event.

On lap 33 Myers dove into turn one and the brake petal when soft and Myers carried too much speed into the corner spinning and causing damage to the left side of the SS Green Light Chevy resulting in the races first caution and falling one lap down from the leaders.

“I’m not real sure what happened with the brakes. Throughout practice and early in the race, we never had any troubles and I went into three and the pedal felt a little soft and then coming into one, it just went right to the floor,” Myers said. “I just hit the left front a little, but it was enough to knock the camber out of the left front and the truck was real tight the rest of the race.”

The SS Green Light crew made repairs and Myers spent the balance of the race working to get back on the lead lap. Burt was involved in a spin on lap 116 when Max Papis got into the rear of the No. 07. Soon after, Burt was able to position himself in the lucky-dog position and was awarded the free pass on lap 129.

Burt lost the lead lap again when he and Chris Fontaine got together fighting for position on lap 169 and finished his first NCWTS race one lap down in nineteenth place. “I’m not used to finishing in nineteenth place so I’m a little disappointed, but I feel very fortunate to have been given the opportunity and to have this experience,” Myers said. “I wish we had not lost practice time (due to rain on shortening practice) because I think we could have made the truck a little better. All in all it was not a bad weekend.”

“It was great to be able to race with these guys. Bobby Dotter and Butch Miller are first class people and the entire SS Green Light team was very helpful and professional all weekend long.” He continued. “I want to thank everyone that helped me to have this experience.”

Tim Brown finished 27th in his NCWTS debut in the Fastwax.com No. 08 running in partnership with Rick Ware Racing.

Chad McCumbee will resume the driving duties of the No 07 for the remaining four races of the NCWTS schedule including next week at Talladega as tiwi returns to the hood of the SS Green Light Racing Chevy.
