| O'Reilly Midwest All Stars Slide into Spoon River Speedway | Camargo, IL (6-15-09) by Kelly Brown - Public Relations Director – After a thrilling event at Vermilion County Speedway last weekend that saw the O’Reilly Midwest All Stars crown a new winner, the series is moving further west in the Land of Lincoln to Spoon River Speedway located near Banner, Illinois for a showdown on Friday, June 19th.
Spoon River Speedway is one of the tracks that have been hosting Midwest All Star events since the series conception. The 3/8-mile oval features a yellow clay dirt surface that should be challenging to the drivers of the Midwest All Stars. One of the drivers that had some success in Midwest All Star competition at the track is reigning champion Jerrod Hull who has been in all four Midwest All Star events at the track. In those he has two wins, a second place and fourth place finish. Another driver that has experience at the track is Alex Shanks who has a sixth place finish there in Midwest All Star competition and two second place finishes without a wing on his 410 sprint.
One of the veterans who has experience at the track is Jim Davies who has one top-five and four top-ten finishes in various open wheel cars with and without wings. AJ Bruns has one victory at the track without a wing in 410 sprint car competition along with five top-tens. Midwest All Star rookie Jordan Goldesberry goes into this weekend’s event with one win in 360 winged competition. Current Midwest All Star points leader Kaley Gharst only has two top-ten finishes there in weekly racing action.
The gates will be opening for the event at Spoon River Speedway at 5:00pm with hot laps scheduled to begin at 6:30 and racing at 7:00.
