Newberrytown, PA (June 6, 2009) – Gary Potts of Mt. Wolf won his first Late Model featue event of the season at the Susquehanna Speedway Park on Saturday night. Potts became the seventh different winner in as many races. Chambersburg’s Doug Bennett won for the second time this season in the 20-lap Street Stock main feature event, becoming the first repeat winner in the Street Stock Class. York’s Tommy Slanker won for th second straight week by claiming the the competitive 20-lap Xtreme Stock Car feature. Dover’s Curtis Shue was victorious in the XSC Rookie Rumble. Wes McDonald won the Road Warrior feature event. The 15-lap Legends Cars main event was postponed after a violent flip on the fourth circuit of the feature when Josh Morrow was tranported to the hospital. The curfew prevented the completion of the event.

In a caution-filled 20-lap Late Model feature event, Gary Potts led the first eight laps. Steve Billet charged into the lead on the ninth lap and looked pick up his first win of the season until he spun on the 11th lap giving the lead back to Potts. At the restart, Potts led the final nine green flag laps to claim the victory. Kyle Saylor ran another strong race finishing second, followed by a hard chargin Bud Witmer. Carl Graves and Justin Ehrhart rounded out the top five. Qualifying heat races were won by Alex Updegraff and Gary Potts.

Calvin Herman brought the field to green and grabbed the early lead over Brett Pickel. Greg Diehl and Dustin Hollinger battled early for the runner-up spot. Herman relinquished the lead to Hollinger when he spun in turn two in front of the field collecting only three other cars. Hollinger led on the restart, but Doug Bennett made it shortlived as he charged to the front on lap 8. Bennett led the final 13 circuits, picking up the win with Hollinger staying very close in second. Scott Thunberg finished third, followed by Jim Palm Jr. and Garrett Shover. Bennett and Diehl won their respective qualifying heat races.

The 2008 XSC Track Champion Donnie Broderick started on the pole and took the early lead. The struggling Broderick held the top spot until Tommy Slanker moved past him on lap 8 from his eleventh starting position. Travis Horan and Sam Rial pursued Slanker, awiting to pounce on any mistakes made by Slanker. A last lap double file restart found Slanker choosing the outside position which proved to be the right one for him to claim his second straight XSC feature win in as many weeks. Horan settled for second with Rial in third. Ray Broderick finished in fourth, followed by Greg Updegraff who made his first start of the season. Donnie and Ray Broderick won their XSC qualifying heat races.

The 15-lap Legends Cars feature event was postponed on lap four due to curfew following a red flag period after Josh Morrow flipped violently on the frontstretch.
