ROZNER ON RAILS, HOLDS OFF MORROW IN THE STEEL HEAD LM FEATURE AT BOYDS SPEEDWAY

By Steve Hixson

RINGGOLD, GA -October 17, 2008- For the second time this season, the WIZARD of ROZ', Mike Rosner of Maryville, TN topped the Steel-Head Late Models feature at Boyd's Speedway. Friday night the # 17 'Cash for Cars & Trucks, Realty Executives, Kinzer Air Filters, Enloe Enterprises, ATTL Products, JVE Properties & Investments' sponsored, DWB / Joe Metcalf powered Pontiac GTO was on rails defeating over twenty competitors, including a hard chargin' Todd Morrow, in the 25 lap 'A' Main feature. With backing also from Stone Plus and White's Total Performance out of the Clinton, TN area, owner Rod Rosner / Mark Vineyard Motorsports team took the lead on lap six (6) and held off charges from the LAWMAN Mike Tinker, Ruben Mayfield and eventually newly recognized 2008 Top Track Crate Challenge series champ Morrow.

'We've been real good here all season.' stated THE ROZ after the race. 'This place is real racey, Diggs (Jerry) and my crew chief Chris Sise worked real hard for this one. I'd like to thank my dad and wife Lori, whom without either of them this racing deal wouldn't be possible.' Rosner started the feature 5th, on the inside of row three after two; 8 lap, heat races staged the field. It was an all Lenior City, TN front row as Mike Price and Mayfield won the prelim's. Price shook-out into the lead as flagman Jerry Lewis waved the green, but that lasted only a lap as Mayfield roared past on-top. The fading Price was passed by ROZ and Brian Burke as yellow reared on lap 4. On the restart Rosner took command and quickly distanced himself from Mayfield. Burke was contending with Tinker, who by lap 15 had worked into the runner-up slot.

Rosner kept the 'loud-pedal' mashed, but all eyes were on fan favorite Morrow, who was starting 21st after fighting his racecar's set-up the entire heat. Morrow soon grabbed the 5th place spot from Craig Burrows and went to work on Burke. As quickly as he obtained 2nd, the LAWMAN lost it back to Mayfield, as Morrow was motoring thru. Bryan Winkler had a tough time and was a back-marker machine, but Rosner never slowed. The final yellow appeared on lap 23 just as Morrow was about to pass Mayfield for the # 2 spot on the track. With the green-white-checkered restart, Morrow held firm and grabbed second as the white flag flew. Rozner grabbed the satisfying victory, and now readies for a Sunday return to his home-track the Mountain Raceway Park & Fairgrounds, for the Buddy Rogers Memorial event.
