Steve Shaver Wins at Skyline, Heads to DTWC this weekend

VIENNA, WV (October 16, 2008)- Steve Shaver and the Shaver Motorsports/Cosgrove Racing Team competed in the "Jack-o-Lantern 35" at Skyline Speedway in Stewart, OH this past weekend. The 35-lap special late model event paying $2,500 to win drew several big names to the track for this event. Shaver would take the lead on the start and lead the first 10 laps before being passed by Josh McGuire on lap eleven. Shaver would stay glued to McGuire's bumper and would close in on the leader by the halfway mark of the race. In the closing laps Shaver would put his rocket chassis back in front of McGuire for the lead and hold off the hard charging McGuire and record another win at the track that Shaver has mastered over the years.

"I want to dedicate this race to my friend Jack Shutts and his family. I want to wish him the best, this one is for him," said Shaver in victory lane. "It's getting toward the end of the season, so it's good to finish the season strong. And we finally beat Josh McGuire here...fair and square. He has owned this place so it's really good to get the win." Shaver's dedication was in response to longtime flagman/scorer and Shaver's neighbor Jack Shutts, who is critically ill and undergoing treatment.

Shaver and the team will now get ready to compete in the Dirt Track World Championship this coming weekend at K-C Raceway in Chillicothe, OH. The 100-lap crown jewel event will pay a whopping $50,000 to the winner. Qualifying and heat races start on Friday October 17th with the b-mains and 100-lap feature event on Saturday October 18th.
