Earl Pearson Jr. Finishes 3rd at Jackson 100, Heads to Knoxville LM Nationals

ARCHDALE, NC (September 24, 2008)- Earl Pearson Jr. and the Bobby Labonte Racing Team competed at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown IN this past weekend in the "Jackson 100" a $20,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event. Earl would set fast time in his group win the sixth heat race and drew the pole position for the 100-lap feature event. Earl would battle Steve Francis for the lead for the first three laps before falling back to fifth place in the early stages of the race. Earl would soon get his car working on the low groove around the track and began moving forward contending for the lead again at the halfway mark of the race. Earl, Tim McCreadie and Jimmy Owens would put on a tremendous battle for the lead running three wide for many laps with each taking turns leading over the final 30 laps. Earl looked to be in control taking the lead again on lap 79 but McCreadie pasted Earl back on lap 82 and Earl would settle for a 3rd place finish at the checkers.

"It was a great race between myself, McCreadie and Owens. We had a good enough car to win and we were setup to run the bottom. I thought I would get the win after taking the lead with about 20 laps to go but that top groove took a little rubber there at the end and got just a bit faster than the bottom groove. We were close but we ended up 3rd. We're heading to Knoxville and looking forward to going there. We haven't been there in three years so were really looking forward to running there again", stated Earl.

Earl and the Bobby Labonte Motorsports Team will travel to the famous Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, IA this weekend and compete in the Lucas Oil Knoxville Late Model Nationals on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Thursday and Fridays feature events will pay $7,000 to win and Saturday's 100-lap feature will pay $40,000 to win.
