Danny Smith claims Quincy Cash with Midwest All Star Series

CAMARGO, IL (09-21-08) by Robert Cortum - Midwest All Star Series

For the second night in a row, Danny Smith, in the Doug Williams Trucking #4, took home the top prize with the O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series. Smith improved upon his runner-up finish from the previous event held a Quincy Raceways in June when he took the lead in commanding fashion early in the race.

Smith favored the high side throughout the feature as many cars were trying th find just the right spot to get their sprinters hooked up. He took the lead from pole sitter Ryan Bunton in the Morton Collision Center #6R.

Bunton would stay in the second spot until relegating it to a hard charging Justin Zimmerman in the Phillips Floors #7K late in the race. Completing the top five of the feature would be Mark Shirshekan in 4th and Dustin Barks in 5th.

The night’s feature would also offer up a bonus to the top 3 finishing 360c.i. sprinters. 2009 O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series Rookie contender, Jordan Goldesberry, in the Goldesberry Signs #65, would take top honors. Additionally, Jim Davies and Joey Moughan would claim the other bonuses.

The night’s dash event would go to Jerrod Hull in the Ozarc Gas #12 machine. The dash gave the top 6 fastest O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series members one last look at the track before feature time. Jimmy Hurley, Bunton, Miranda Throckmorton, Smith, and Brad Greer would finish out the order.

Smith would also be the night’s fast qualifier. Smith tripped the timing lights at a lightning quick 11.555 seconds. Heat Race winners would be Zimmerman (Heat 1), Bunton (Heat 2), and Hull (Heat 3).

The event at Quincy Raceways will conclude the 2008 campaign for the O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series. The series is proud to announce that Jerrod Hull is the 2008 Point’s Champion and Miranda Throckmorton is the 2008 Rookie of the Year. This is Hull’s 2nd Championship with the series. Ryan Bunton finished a strong 2nd in the point’s battle. To go along with her Rookie of the Year title, Throckmorton will finish 3rd in point’s.
