White survives Record Caution Event

Las Vegas Motor Speedway Round 19 of 25 Monday September 22, 2008 It was a night of up's and down's for driver of the #08 GunBroker.com Dodge Jason White. But in the end he survived a record night of cautions and again placed inside the top-20. White started 28th for the Qwik Liner 350 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Las Vegas on Saturday night and finished 17th on the lead lap.

But the competitive finish didn't come without having to battle back from some bad luck. The first half of the race went pretty smooth for White and the GunBroker.com team. By lap-40 White had moved up to
20th. And at the halfway mark his momentum was still going as White sat in the 19th position.

The second half of the race presented several cautions. White evaded the many wrecks on the track and kept his truck clean. With 65-laps to go he had driven his way up to 14th and appeared to be headed for a possible top-ten.

But with 47-laps remaining the truck snapped loose and White spun making contact with the outside wall. He came down pit road and the SS-Green Light Racing team went to work on repairs. The team got White quickly back out on the track, where he was just one-lap down.

With 37-laps left White was rewarded the Lucky Dog placing him back on the lead lap. White drove with determination to still have a good finish. With 10-laps remaining he had driven back inside the top-twenty and had avoided the major crashes that were happening all around him.

Just after a restart with 10-laps remaining White spun hitting the wall in turn-2. He returned to pit road and the crew once again got the #08 GunBroker.com machine fixed enough to return to the track. White gained three positions in the final few laps to finish 17th.

"We had a good truck," said White. "The crew did a great job not losing laps and keeping us going. Had we avoided any incident I think we could have finished top ten or fifteen for sure."

There are 6-races left on the NASCAR Truck Series Schedule. White and the SS Green Light Racing team will have a few weeks break before returning to racing October 4th at Talladega Superspeedway.
