ROOKIE CHUCK PALMUCCI SCORES FIRST CAREER URC VICTORY SATURDAY NIGHT AT DELAWARE INTERNATIONAL BECCA ANDERSON EARNS TAYLOR & MESSICK DELAWARE STATE SPRINT TITLE

By Robert Miller,
URC Staff

Delmar, DE - September 20 - Rookie URC driver Chuck Palmucci of Bordentown, NJ upset a strong field of competitors to win the twenty-five lap Rislone URC Sprint Series feature event night at the Delaware International Speedway. For Palmucci, it was his URC career first victory and in doing so, earned $2,000 for the victory. This event marked URC last visit of the season at Delaware International and the Houston "Hurricane" Becca Anderson won the 2008 Taylor & Messick Delaware State Sprint Series, topping Curt Michael in the chase for the title.

A field of twenty-nine URC sprint cars turned out for the event with heat race victories going to Midge Miller, Nate Snyder and Becca Anderson as Robbie Stillwaggon was the winner of the Don Ott "B" Main.

Midge Miller and Chuck Palmucci made-up the front row with Miller taking a commanding lead at the drop of the green flag. Palmucci followed in second with Nate Snyder (driving the Elmer Stoltzfus #00) racing in third. On lap nine, the caution was displayed for Kevin Darling who spun in turn four.

On the restart, Miller again ran away to hide from the rest of the field with Palmucci and Snyder making up the top three. Miller continued to set the pace. At the halfway sign, Miller, Palmucci, Snyder, Brett Schoenly and Kramer Williamson made-up the top five.

Miller, who owns one career URC win appeared to on his way to victory, but as the race went on, Miller pace setting sprinter became looser with each lap. Finally, on lap nineteen, Palmucci made the move and passed Mille for the lead.. On lap twenty-one, Nate Snyder moved into second and in the closing laps, began to reel in the leader. By lap twenty-two, Kramer Williamson advanced to third with his eyes now on Snyder.

With the white flag waiving, Nate Snyder was now in striking distance of the leader. Charging off turn four in the run to the checker, Snyder made a last lap bid but Chuck Palmucci delivered an outstanding run for the win. Palmucci took the win with Nat Snyder second as Kramer Williamson rallied home in a solid third with Justin Collett and Midge Miller making up the top five.
