Blaney Conquers 50-Lap Prelude to a Championship at Freemont Speedway

CAMARGO, IL (09-07-08 ) by Robert Cortum - O'Reilly All Star Public Relations

For the 67th time in his career, Dale Blaney walked off the track with the top check in O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions competition. This time it was a monster 50-lap affair at the famed Fremont Speedway in Fremont, Ohio.

Dubbed, “The Prelude to a Championship,” series point leader Dale Blaney, in the George Fisher owned/wrenched #2 took command of the 50 lap affair on circuit number 44 over Craig Mintz. Mintz, riding in his familiar #09 machine jumped out to an early advantage of the 24 car feature event from his pole position. Earlier on in the evening’s program, during the Dash event, Mintz’s car caught fire and halted action for response and cleanup efforts.

The feature event saw 6 caution flags during action. Current runner-up in points, Lance Dewease would bring out the first one on lap 17, but still finish the night in 8th. Brandon Martin proved once again why he is one of the most exciting drivers to watch on the track as he was the evening’s hard charger improving 12 spots from his 24th place start.

Lee Jacobs gave everything he could to improve upon his previous 2 runner-up spots in competition in his #59 sprinter staying within arms reach all night from his 3rd place starting spot. Jacobs would finish 2nd in the event with Mintz rounding out the podium.

Heat race winners on the night were; Tim Shaffer (Heat 1), Lance Dewease (Heat 2), Brock Mayes (Heat 3), and Greg Wilson (Heat 4). The night’s C-Main winner would go to Butch Schroeder with the B-Main belonging to Randy “The Hurricane” Hannagan. Quick Time on the night belonged to Dale Blaney and Tim Shaffer picked up the O’Reilly Auto Parts Dash event.

With just 2 more nights of racing left, Dale Blaney still holds command for the $50,000 championship bounty over Lance Dewease. The series will conclude their 2008 season next weekend at Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg , Indiana during the Hoosier Fall Classic presented by Miamitown Auto Parts. The event scheduled for September 12th will pay $3,000 to the winner with the event slated for September 13th paying $10,000 to win. Each car on both nights are guaranteed to walk home with no less than $150.00 each night.
