Weeks Starts Off Carolina Clash 'Championship Series' with FMS $5,000 Win

From "Carolina Clash"

FAYETTEVILLE, NC -August 30, 2008- Ricky Weeks opened the new Carolina Clash 'Countdown to the Cup Championship Series' just like he ended the last four seasons, on top.

The veteran racer from Rutherfordton, NC led wire to wire to collect the win in the first of a six race playoff and the $5,000 prize.

Weeks aboard his Starrette Trucking/Parton Lumber Company/AFCO/Rocket Monte Carlo bolted to the lead over fellow front row starter G.R. Smith as the green flag dropped for the start of the 50 lap feature and never looked back as the four-time and defending series champion rolled to his 26th career Carolina Clash win.

Gaffney, SC's Dennis 'Rambo' Franklin drove his Barry Wright house car to a second place finish to stay within 15 points of Weeks' lead. Jeff Smith came from his sixth starting spot to grab third over G.R. Smith and Smithfield, VA's Brent Robinson. Sixth through tent went to Justin Labonte, Ray Tucker, Scott Autry, Scott Shirey and Tim Allen.

Weeks collected $200 for setting fast time over the 34 car field from Mega Plumbing of the Carolina's and Industrial Supply of Marion, SC. Shirey was the Heintz Brothers Performance Hard Charger of the race. The next Carolina Clash events will be this coming weekend September 5th & 6th.

Friday nights event at Carolina Speedway will be the inaugural Hall of Fame 50 -

"A Tribute to Humpy Wheeler". Saturday's event will also pay $5,000 to win and will be held at Friendship Speedway in Elkin, NC. For more information visit www.carolinaclash.com
