By Allen Hastings
GAS Series Media

Jefferson, GA - - In 2008, there has only been one driver to win more than once with the Georgia Asphalt Series. Bubba Pollard of Senoia, Georgia took his third win of the season at Peach State Speedway. Pollard drove the car normally piloted by GAS Series driver Tony Clark to the win.

Pollard set fast time in the GAS Series qualifying with a 18.019 second lap around the 1/2 mile oval. Pollard drew a 7 out of the bag ,moving Casey Roderick to the pole position and Pollard to the seventh poistion. Roderick, in his Bill Elliott Driver Development racer, jumped out to an early lead until a caution on lap 8 on front straightaway involving Ronnie Sanders, David Elliott, Rob Dubnecay and Beau Slocomb. Slocomb was the only driver able to continue.

On the restart, Paul Kelley and Taylor Satterfield began to battle Roderick for the lead. On lap 19, Kelley was able to make the pass. Meanwhile, Pollard is working his way through the field and was able to catch Kelley around lap 80. Both drivers battled side by side for several laps. Pollard passed Paul Kelley on lap 92 to pull away for the win of the 100 lap event.

In the pits after the race, both drivers was ecstatic. "This was possibly the most fun I ever had racing", said Pollard. "Paul (Kelley) raced me clean and I'm thrilled to get Tony's (Clark) car in victory lane." Pollard and Kelley have had a little rivalry going on over the last couple of years with some on track incidents in the past. "Wow, that was a blast racing with Bubba," said Kelley. " I want to congratulate Bubba on his win." Rounding out the top 5 were, Max Gresham, David Hole and Lee Langford.

The next event for the GAS Series is scheduled for New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, Georgia on Saturday, September 20th.
