By Brenda Murphy

ALTAMAHAW, N.C -July 18, 2008- It was the seventh consecutive win for Mebane's Speedy Faucette. It as also his seventh straight qualifying pole with a 15:799.

After a redraw of the top 15 cars, Speedy had to come from the 14th.
position to win on a full moon night at Ace Speedway. With a bounty on his head and having to come from the rear, Speedy Faucette was still unstoppable. R.D. Smith took the early lead before Robert Turner took over the number one position. It looked like Turner was having a great run when Turner suffered a engine problem. Faucette led the final 78 laps of the 100 lap feature to win his eighth race of the year. Faucette also collected the $100 bounty. If another competitor can outrun Faucette, he will collect a $200 bonus.

Reidsville's Rodney Cook run a close second to Faucette and made a very exciting race out of it. Cook had come from the 12th position.
McLeansville's Dustin Rumley, Elon's Scotty Warren and Burlington's Dean Fogleman rounded out the top five.

Thomas Scott of Corbett Ridge led all 25 laps in the Modified race capturing his first victory of the season. Burlington's Gary Young, Jr. finished second with Mebane's Richard Bailey taking third.

The Limited Sportsman race was won by Burlington's Ziggy Zimmerman. It was Ziggy's fourth win of the year. Bobby Griffin of Eden finished second with Pelham's John Moore taking third.

The Mini stock race had the most action of the night. Thomasville's Michael Tucker won his fifth of the season with Haw River's Chad Sykes finishing second. Third was Brown Summit's Chris Breedlove.

On the eighth lap Chris Southern lost control of his car in turn four and spun in from of the pack. Southern's car made contact with Mark Wilburn's car and sent Wilburn flipping onto its top and skidding about 30 feet down the front stretch. The car eventually barrel rolled back onto its four wheels. Wilburn was found to have no injuries after being checked out by the emergency personnel.

The Xtreme race was won by Burlington's Michael Neal. Mebane's Keith Spake finished second and Jerry Kernodle rounded out the top three.
