| Faucette takes sixth win at Ace | By Brenda Murphy, Ace Speedway P.R.
ALTAMAHAW, N.C. -June 28, 2008- Speedy Faucette of Mebane won his sixth race of the year Friday night after a strong challenge from Reidsville's Rodney Cook. Faucette posted the fastest qualifying time of the year with a 15.653. position. Cook has had four seconds to Faucette this season and is definitely turning up the heat. They had good side-by-side racing and Cook never gave up. Cook continually charged through the corners in an effort to get by the Mebane driver putting on a good show for the fans.
Burlington's Dean Fogleman finished third for the second week in a row. Dustin Rumley of McLeansville finished fourth with Elon's Scotty Warren rounding out the top five. Dane Rudolph, a rook from Australia, had his best finish of the season but was disqualified following postrace inspection.
Josh Nichols of Cleveland, NC had his first career victory at Ace in the Modified Division. Burlington's Gary Young, Jr., who is leading the points, came in second and Thomas Scott of Corbett Ridge finished in the third position. Nichols was also the fast qualifier in the Modified Division with a 15.805.
After postrace inspections in the Modified Division, all cars passed tech. This was a welcome relief after last week when eight of the ten cars failed after checking tread width. Tread width was checked again this week and all cars complied.
Ziggy Zimmerman of Burlington won his third race of the year in the Limited Sportsman Division. John Moore of Pelham, division points leader, finished second followed by Eden's Bobby Griffin. Rookie Kevan Combs had a good start leading the first 17 laps but developed issues with his car.
