| Dan Schlieper Earns Second Lucas Oil Series Win of Season at Cherokee! | Media Contact: Ryan Delph - Delph Communications SULLIVAN, WISCONSIN -June 26, 2008- Dan Schlieper picked up his second victory of the 2008 racing season and his third career Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series triumph last Friday evening, June 20 at the historic Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, South Carolina! The Sullivan, Wisconsin native won his heat race and later drew a number two to earn the outside front row starting spot for the annual 'Grassy Smith Memorial.' Dan took the lead at the drop of the green flag and led all forty laps of the A-Main en route to the $7,000 win over Jimmy Owens, Jonathan Davenport, Randle Chupp, and Chris Madden. The #9 team was then slated to be in action on Saturday night, June 21 at the Fayetteville Motor Speedway in Fayetteville, North Carolina. However, Mother Nature took the win in the $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event. Dan still sits fifth in the latest version of the series point standings heading into the busy month of July. You can view more information on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series online at www.lucasdirt.com. "This Wild car has been running very strong as of late and our Pro Power engines are just incredible," exclaimed Schlieper yesterday via telephone. "The car was fast right out of the box at Cherokee and we were able to get our second Lucas Oil Series win in as many weekends. The lapped traffic held me up a little and allowed (Jimmy) Owens to close late in the race, but I think it would have been hard for him to get by me. I have to thank all of my great sponsors, as well as my crew for all of their hard work and dedication!" The Dan Schlieper Racing team has decided to take the upcoming weekend, June 27-28, off from Dirt Late Model action. Their next events will be a trio of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series shows over the 4th of July holiday weekend at the Muskingum County (OH) Speedway (July 3), the Tazewell (TN) Speedway (July 4), and the Volunteer (TN) Speedway (July 5). Each race in the tripleheader weekend will pay $10,000 to the winner. Have an opinion on this story? E-MAIL KARNAC to send a letter to the editor!
