USAC National Sprints Kick off Pay Less Little 500 Week at Anderson Speedway on Wednesday Night

ANDERSON, Ind. (May 20, 2008) – The 60th Pay Less Little 500 week kicks off Wednesday, May 21 at Anderson Speedway with the USAC National Sprint Car Series competing in the 9th Annual Glen Niebel Classic – Banjo 100 presented by Sam Pierce Chevrolet. The Ed Martin Chevrolet SuperTrucks will also compete on Wednesday Night.

When the USAC National Sprints compete in the 100-lap event at Anderson it marks their fifth event of the 2008 racing season. Drivers that have scored victories this season include Shane Cottle (Gas City), Darren Hagen (Winchester), Levi Jones (Brownstown) and Tracy Hines (Eldora). Defending champion Levi Jones sits atop the USAC National Sprint Car point standings with a three point lead on Oklahoma’s Brady Bacon, who drives for Kasey Kahne Racing. Third is Tracy Hines with veteran Dave Darland and Hagen completing the top five.

In last year’s Banjo 100 presented by Sam Pierce Chevrolet, Levi Jones earned his first-ever pavement USAC National Sprint Car feature victory. Jones led all 100 laps in his Tony Stewart Racing Chevrolet to beat fast qualifier Bryan Clauson, Aaron Pierce, Bobby East and Darren Hagen.

On Wednesday, Pay Less Little 500 practice begins at 11 a.m. with USAC practice taking place at 3:30 p.m. Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with racing starting at 7. Advanced adult tickets are $10 and $15 on raceday. Kids 6 to 12 are admitted for $4. Five and under are free.

The 60th Pay Less Little 500 round one pole qualifications will take place on Thursday, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
On Friday, the 33-car field will be set with the second round of qualifications. Later that night, the Families Forever Ministries $2 Night will take place. The featured divisions include ThunderCars along with Quick Auto Front Wheel Drives in Oval and Figure 8 action. An awesome Fireworks show presented by Great Deals Coupon Magazine follows the Friday night racing program.

On Saturday, May 24 the 60th Pay Less Little 500 green flag waves at 8 p.m. Thirty-three Sprint Cars in 11 rows of 3 will be featured in the richest Sprint Car asphalt event.

Tickets are available for the legendary 60th Pay Less Little 500 at $27 for reserved seating. For more information, contact the Anderson Speedway Ticket Office from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
