SS Green Light Racing Tests Hungarian Driver Gyuri Makai

Mooresville, NC (Tuesday May 20, 2008) -- SS-Green Light Racing held a test session today at Caraway Speedway in Sophia, North Carolina USA with Hungarian Race Car Driver Gyuri (George) Makai. Makai drove over 200-laps for several hours trying different setups and track conditions since the day had ever-changing weather. His lap times were quickly up to the speed of drivers with much greater experience. SS-Green Light Racing Competition Director, Butch Miller and team General Manager/Owner, Bobby Dotter were at the test session to review Gyuri's driving and coach him around the track.

"He doesn't really have any experience in these types of race cars, but amazingly he can drive lap times that would be as competitive as many drivers with much more experience," said Butch Miller, the 3-time ASA Champion and Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame Inductee.

"He shows raw talent, which is very rare. I think he could do very well in American NASCAR Truck Racing." Bobby Dotter agreed with Miller. "I really believe Gyuri has a special talent," said Dotter. "He is ready for a race and we hope to work with him and develop him further into NASCAR."

From age 5 Gyuri Makai was obsessed with racing. He would watch car-racing on TV instead of cartoons. Young Gyuri kept asking his parents for a car and finally at age seven he got his wish and started racing go-karts. With no circle tracks in his country his racing experience comes from road course racing in sports cars and go-karts, where he has won many races. Makai and his parents at the time probably never thought his racing would take him to the United States.

In his trip to the USA Gyuri toured various NASCAR team race shops and was able to see many of the businesses and teams that make up the State of North Carolina's 6-Billion dollar Motorsports Industry. But what Gyuri liked most off-track was American Hot Dogs and Grilled Chicken. On-track he was humbled by having the opportunity to drive a NASCAR Truck.

"I am just happy to be able to sit in the seat and drive this race truck," said Gyuri. "This is an opportunity that many people would like to do. I am just happy to be here in America having this chance to show my ability to drive and do what I love."

"I think NASCAR racing is the best racing and the toughest racing in the world," added Gyuri. "I hope I can become a top driver and earn my way in this series." Back home when not racing Gyuri is a mechanic. He likes to get his hands dirty working on street cars. And he says driving on the street in Budapest Hungary has been good racing experience. "I like to work on the cars," explained Gyuri.

"I like to learn how things work and get in there and work on it myself. I think this can help me in racing to know how to work on cars and support my team." SS-Green Light Racing and Gyuri Makai are discussing future opportunities and hope to make some announcements soon upon developing a marketing program. "We understand marketing is a big part of NASCAR," said Zoltan, Gyuri's Marketing Manager.

"We hope to build a unique marketing program that can support a company on a global level in many countries. We want to bring something a bit different to NASCAR, but something that American fans will support as well."
