BRANDON CAMERON WINS NATIONAL LATE MODEL FEATURE AT COCHRAN MOTOR SPEEDWAY

Cochran, GA -May 3, 2008-

Though the car count was down as the National Late Model Series thundered into Cochran Motor Speedway, racing was anything but slim. All cars were locked into the Feature Event by qualifying. Steve Jones gave everyone present reason to believe he was back to defend his win at Cochran the previous week by handily taking the Optima Trailers Fastest Qualifier. Joining him on the front row was Mark Whitener. J.R. Moseley and Jason Lyles held down row two as racing began.

Steve Jones jumped to an early lead, but was sidelined with problems before the halfway point. Mark Whitener was not too far behind in leaving the track as Keith Edge lost power, causing a pile up behind him and caused Mark to head to the pits early.

Keith Edge had been making great strides in passing the field of cars, working on going to the front at a track he has relearned with all of the track changes. However, Billy Lyles was determined to keep Edge from the front as he tried to overtake the two leaders.

Lead changes were frequent, as no one was able to dominate the track on this Saturday night, once Steve Jones was gone. Brandon Cameron and Clay Bedenbaugh had everyone on the edge of their seats as they battled for the lead – back and forth, everyone wondering who would be in front out of turn 4 on each lap after the halfway point.

When the checkered flag dropped, it was Brandon Cameron’s turn to be in the lead, with Clay Bedenbaugh right on his bumper. Billy Lyles held onto third place with Jeremy Faircloth holding onto fourth.

Next up for the Series – East Bay Raceway Park and the Scott Thompson Memorial Race presented by AirGas on Saturday, May 10, 2008. See ya’ there.
