| O'Reilly Midwest All Star Contenders Tear Up the Competition for Second Week | CAMARGO**, **IL** (**05-05-08**) by Robert Cortum - **Midwest** All Star Series*
A few Hard Charging O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series competitors took to the familiar confines of the St. Francois County Raceway for the second straight weekend. When the dust finally settled both weekends, the winner’s prize went back on the road with the Series’ Superstars.
April 26^th it was the high flying Jimmy Hurley and his family owned, Action Graphics/Miles Chevrolet supported #35 Maxim/McKay Engines. Hurley, who is no stranger to regional traveling took to the familiar facility with the same fire he takes every outing with the O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series.
“We started 4^th in the feature and by lap 18 (of 25) we were able to get to third and then on the next lap we took the top spot and held onto it and won by a straight-away and a half,” explained Hurley. “This is a ’97 Maxim chassis, we decided to pull it out and get some things figured out with it, it shows what you can do with good equipment when you take care of it. This program additionally works with the support of my sponsorship, Velocity Wings, McKay Engines, Bell Helmets, Action Graphics, and Miles Chevrolet.”
Other O’Reilly Midwest All Stars in action at the facility scored event wins on the night. Those include, defending Benton Race Park Champion Tommy Worley, Jr picking up a heat race win and a runner-up spot on the night, “Sparky Pate, Rookie of the Year” contender with the series scored his first Heat Race victory of the year in the Doc Sloan owned A12, Timmy Montgomery finished comfortably in the top 5 with a 4^th place check.
May 3^rd saw a complete sweep by the O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series hotshoe, AJ Bruns. Bruns wheeled his family owned #44 to a heat race win, trophy dash win, and finally the big check from the feature. Bruns had tough competition behind him all night as 2007 series champion was chasing him down in both the heat race and the dash, and the 2007 series runner-up, Robbie Standridge, chasing him in the feature.
“It was a good night for us, no one is going to complain about a sweep. Jerry Russell of Eagle Chassis was in the pits Saturday night and lent some great advice to help us out,” stated Bruns. “We are using a new 2008 Eagle Chassis with our Don Ott power and it is really working out for us. We are looking forward to getting down to Benton (Race Park) and then racing closer to home towards the end of the month.” Bruns was able to perform his traditional wheel stand twice in the evening after the trophy dash and the feature. Bruns adds, “I had to wave to the fans!” Waving he did, with the winners check in hand.
It was a good night for other O’Reilly Midwest All Stars as 3 of the top 5 were members with Standridge in 2^nd and Jerrod Hull crossing the line in 5^th . Aussie Sean Zemunik made his debut aboard the Guy Webb #51 mount. Doc Sloan brought his two powerful machines with rookie contender “Sparky” Pate.
