| Buddy Smith takes down GM Performance Late Model win at Carolina Speedway | Gastonia, N.C. (May 2, 2008) – Buddy Smith brought heck with him Friday night to Carolina Speedway and left the track with a trophy and a $1000.00 check in the GM Performance late model class.
All competitors in the GM Performance late model class laid it on the line as they battled door-to-door for 20 laps. However, the Cherryville native reined supreme with Chris Steel, Gary Puckett, Pat Lindsay and John LLewlyn all chasing him.
Pulling double-duty Timbo Mangum piloted his T1 machine across the stripe first in the street stock feature event. Behind the T1 machine was Frankie McGuire, Mike Messer, Jerry Oliver, and Ben Watkins.
Ronald Pope crossed the stripe first in the Renegade feature event with Joe Johnson Jr, Shorty Lacey, Frank Cooke, and Patrick Lyon hot on his tail pipe.
In the Stock 4 event track champion Jerry Oliver put another notch in his victory belt. Sammy Carter, Shannon Barnhill, Bob Hill and Barney Fuller rounded out the top-five.
Tommy Stang found victory lane for the first time at Carolina Speedway this year. He was followed by Wayne Curtis, Bryan Mullis, Brain Nuhfer, and Mitch Warlick.
