Nashville, Tennessee - August 30, 2008 – Andy Johnson from Mount Juliet, Tn. went into the last NASCAR points event with what proved to be an unsurmountable 88 point lead over rookie Dillon Oliver from Bowling Green, Ky. Oliver in a tight battle with former Champion Mark Day from Clarksville, TN had a tough night and fell to 3rd in the points, still quite an accomplishment for the rookie. Another rookie, Michael House from Murfreesboro was fast time for the night and was presented with a $75 gift certificate from Full Throttle racing parts. Chevy WhiteX, from Columbia led the last 75 laps to claim the victory in the 125 Lap feature event sponsored by radio 98 WSIX. Andy Johnson from Mount Juliet was second, good enough to claim the Championship, followed by Michael House in third, Mark Day, from Clarksville, Tn was fourth good enough for second in the final standings, and Daniel Pope rounded out the top 5. The Music City Motorplex track points sea son will continue through September 27, 2008 with the "Night of Champions.
Bobby Buttrey, from Fairview, Tn. was fast time for the Super Truck division and was awarded a $75 from Full Throttle racing parts. Buttrey went on to complete the night by leading the last 62 laps of the 100 lap feature. Daniel Victory, the current point leader, from Smyrna, Tn. tangled with Clint Crowell of Franklin while battling for the lead and lost about half of his point lead over Buttrey with two races left in the season. Father/Son team Ricky and Daniel Bolden for Cane Ridge, Tn. finished a very impressive 2nd and 3rd after both made pit stops for tires and adjustments Allen Carter from Murfreesboro finished 4th with Kyle Fletcher from Smyrna rounding out the top 5.
The NASCAR Grand National Division had another great event as 4 cars were battling for the victory at the completion of the 75 event. Lee Goddard, current point leader and track record holder was fast time and just missed set ting a new track record. The fast time was rewarded with a $75 award from Full Throttle racing parts. Jeffrey Belt from Murfressboro was second, Eddie Taylor from Hermitage finished third, Darrell Brawley 4th, and Tim Haggard from Springfield completed the top 5.
Racing at the Music City Motorplex will take a break during the Tennessee State Fair that runs September 5-14. Racing will return September 20, 2008 for "50’s Night. The night will feature 50’s music, a car show and a special offer to all fans that dress in 50’s style clothing. Two time Daytona 500 winner Sterling Marlin will return to action at the Motorplex on Saturday, September 20 and September 27.
Grandstand gates open at 4:00 p.m. and qualifying at 4:30 p.m. The green flag will drop on the first race at 6:30 p.m.
