After swapping out rear-ends on his Terminix Chevrolet after a Practice Crash at Concord Motorsport Park, 14-year-old Logan Ruffin rebounded to Qualify 13th and finish 12th in the Super Sonic 100 on July 12th.
Brentwood, Tennessee (Thursday, July 17, 2008): This is not about Logan Ruffin, R Motorsports, a win, a magazine article, or a sponsor.
This is very simply a heart felt "Thank You" extended to several individuals and two race teams that competed in the ASA Late Model Series Southern Division race at Concord Motorsport Park on Saturday, July 12, 2008 in the Super Sonic 100.
Without the hard work and sacrifice by these individuals and teams, the #76 car driven by 14-year-old Logan Ruffin would not have made qualifying or the race.
During the 12:00-2:00p.m. practice session, Logan backed the #76 into the Turn One wall destroying the rear clip. Logan was pushing the car, looking for additional speed through the corners when his day probably should have ended.
Logan drove the #76 into the pits for his Crew Chief, Dick Woodman to evaluate the damage. That is where and when the day we will never forget at the race track really began.
Crew Chief, Dick Woodman, quickly evaluated the damage and decided that with approximately 4 1/2 hours until qualifying the car might be repairable, if we could get the necessary parts. Have an opinion on this story? E-MAIL KARNAC to send a letter to the editor!
