ROANE COUNTY, TN (WATE) -January 8, 2007- Roane County commissioners voted Monday night in favor of rezoning the Atomic Speedway for a truck maintenance facility.

The vote to rezone the property was 12-3.

Now trucking company Crete Carrier can begin plans to build.

But residents in the area claim the new facility will create noise, traffic and environmental hazards.

"They could care less for the residents that do live in that area. I do have friends that's been there for years. They moved out there for it being country not a trucking terminal. It's very upsetting," one resident said at Monday's meeting.

Representatives for Crete Carrier say the company plans to close the deal on January 20. Construction will start soon after.

The company hopes to be in the facility by late fall.
