NEW LATE MODEL SERIES SET FOR 2007 DEBUT IN ARKANSAS; AMPSERIES.COM NEW WEBSITE

From Arkansas Motorsports Professionals PR

ALEXANDER, Ark. -December 21, 2006- Some of the best drivers in the state will assemble this coming racing season for the debut of the Arkansas Motorsport Professionals State Series late model tour. The sanctioning body was created as an alternative to out-of-state series, and an opportunity for late model fans in the state of Arkansas to see their favorite cars and drivers more than in past years.

The initial response to the AMP series has been very positive, and what started out as a projected ten-to-thirteen race schedule will possibly have dates added throughout the season. With the addition of sponsors such as Team GRT, Larry Shaw Race Cars, Kenny Morden Racing Products, Schoenfeld Headers, Race On Driving Experience, Contingency Connection, Kartways of Arkansas, MRW Wheels, New Vision Graphics, Mid-West Racing Apparel, Momar Chemical and Crown CD Duplications the series has also attracted several area late model veterans on board to compete in the debut season, along with a number of up-and-coming drivers and modified stars joining in on the action. With a roster of nearly 80 late model drivers committed to at least one event, the AMP State Series late models will undoubtedly be one of the most competitive series in the mid-south area.

The series has a guaranteed purse, along with the cost-efficient touring schedule. Centrally located tracks will keep traveling to a minimum for weekly drivers, and just as importantly bring back real late model racing to one of the most rabid fan bases in the country.

Along with a winner's purse of $1,500 for each event, the AMP series is trying to go in a non-traditional route in payouts throughout the field. The event will be a base pay out of $200 to start, but a number of different contingency awards will give extra payouts, and/or free merchandise and prizes (gift certificates, etc.) for a number of races on the schedule. Those awards include hard charger, hard luck and highest-finishing rookie.

All of your favorite tracks in Arkansas have committed to running and supporting the AMP State Series tour, including I-30 Speedway, Beebe Speedway, Monticello, North Central Arkansas Speedway, 64 Speedway, Southwest Arkansas Speedway and West Siloam Speedway, with announcements on additional tracks forthcoming. The mix of quarter-mile and 3/8 tracks will give fans and drivers a variety of racing action, all without traveling hundreds or even thousands of miles to witness.

Drivers who are interested in running the AMP series can purchase yearly membership from now until Dec. 31 for $40, after that, it will be $50. Every driver that signs up will have a chance to win a free Snap-On jacket courtesy of Mike McNay of Stuttgart, Arkansas, valued at $200, and will also be eligible for the yearly driver point fund for the top finishers in season points. AMP is setting up the points fund for the series this season to help recover traveling and maintenance expenses.

AMP wants to hear from everyone, the fans, the drivers, the tracks, and the sponsors. We want to make the series the best of its kind in the region, and give the state of Arkansas the great late model series it truly deserves.

For more information on the AMP State Series, please contact Christy Hudson at (501) 847-6019 pitprincess@amp-race.com or Mike McNay at (870) 674-8470 snappy@cebridge.net
