Savannah, GA -January 5, 2006- Drivers aged 23 and younger will once again be chasing their dreams on Saturday, February 4 at the Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Savannah, GA.
The 2nd Annual Coca-Cola Young Guns Shoot-Out presented by Stock Car Racing and Circle Track Magazines along with Sport Clips for Men will showcase young talent to a growing number of professional race team scouts and driver development coordinators.
Rocket Chassis has agreed to offer a $500 discount on any new chassis to the winner of the Young Guns Late Model race for the second straight season.
“Rocket Chassis believes in developing our young talent,” said Mark Richards. “The professional teams have found new talent in many divisions of racing. It’s only a matter of time before one of our budding young stars in dirt late model racing gets recognized and has an opportunity to showcase themselves in a national spotlight.”
Jacksonville’s Bodine Massengill won last year’s inaugural race behind the wheel of a Rocket Chassis. Massengill did not win the race going away as his Super Late Model only won by less than a car length over a GM Performance crate engine powered race car.
“Oglethorpe Speedway is a momentum track,” said former Nextel Cup champion Bill Elliott. “If the car rolls through the corners maintaining speed and holding the line, the power off the corner can take you to victory lane.”
Drivers from ten states have already registered for the Young Guns Late Model race on Saturday, February 4. Drivers will have the opportunity to participate in Motorsports Seminars the day prior to the race event. The seminars are designed to assist in their opportunity to impress professional scouts coming in for the weekend in Savannah.
