| Brad Coffey Tastes Victory At Atomic Motor Speedway | By Charlie Beasley
The month of May kicked off like April ended at Atomic Motor Speedway. There was a lot of two and three wide action on the fast 1/3-mile dirt track. The summer is shaping up to be a series of great battles every Saturday night for the trophy, the glory and the money.

Late Model fast qualifier Brad Coffey (12.535) set the pace on his first lap, but pushed too hard on the second lap and wound up finding concrete coming off turn four. The spoiler was knocked loose, but the car didn’t have any major damage.
Coffey took the pole over a top five of Mike Weeks (12.556), Patrick Duggan (12.570), Kevin Coffey (12.619) & Barry Goodman (12.700). The race started with Mike Weeks jumping to the lead from his outside front row starting position. Mike Kittrell spun before the completion of the first lap. Kelvin White spun in the aftermath, but was able to continue. On the second attempt, Weeks would once again get the jump.

Brad Coffey got sideways in front of the field in the first turn, bottlenecking the field behind him. Matt Henderson would bring the proceedings to a halt with a spin in turn three on lap one. When the race went green, Coffey challenged Weeks on the bottom for the next couple laps until White spun off turn two on lap three.
The next restart would change the complexion of the front of the field. Entering turn one on the restart, Patrick Duggan made contact with Coffey. Coffey’s TNT would make a loop and come to a stop. The caution was charged to Duggan and he was sent to the rear from his third place spot.
The lap 4 restart would see Kevin Coffey slip past Barry Goodman for fourth spot. Brad Coffey would also make a move on this run. He worked his way past Weeks, but the pass was negated when Tony Martin spun his MasterSbilt in turn one. The green flew and so did Billy Ogle Jr. He moved by Goodman off turn 2 for 4th on lap seven. Ogle would then dispose of K. Coffey on lap ten with a low side move off turn two. Brad Coffey made another move on Weeks in turns one and two on lap thirteen. He would make it stick and take the lead for good.
He would go on to lead the last 22 laps and take home the win. Following him to the stripe were, Mike Weeks, Billy Ogle Jr., Jeff Monger, and a hard charging Patrick Duggan, recovering from his penalty earlier in the race.
