| Crafty Kevin Briscoe Claims First Sprint Feature Of 2004 At Bloomington Speedway | BY CHUCK WELSH -KARNAC.com
On Friday night, April 30th, we enjoyed both ends of the generation gap in the sprint division. At one end, we had our 14-year-old high school freshman, and at the other end was the return of a 63-year-old grandfather.
The grandfather was the one and only Chuck Amati who had taken a 14 year sabbatical from the seat of a sprint car. The reason he is back is his grandson said he was tired of sitting home on Friday night. Bringing a sprinter that was built for a wing; he had trouble throughout the evening, but we hope to see him again.

In the sprint division, the fast time was set by a 20-year-old with a time of 12.541. The track was even heavier then it was last week because of the rain late Thursday night. Five drivers under 21 were in the first 8 starting spots. Jared Fox, a 20-year-old led for the 23 laps until the older and crafty Kevin Briscoe passed him to win his first feature at Bloomington this year.
Second place went to Jared with Kenny Carmichael and Rick Vaughn following in third and fourth. In the Indiana Super Stocks the feature went to Jeremy Hines with Danny Harris and Chris DeWeese close on his rear bumper.
The U.M.P. Modified feature went to young Clint DeMoss with another youngster Brady Short coming in second, and then from the older generation was last weeks winner Dan Hamstra.
On Friday night, May 7th, it’s off to the beautiful Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington, IN.
Speed week will then finish up in Brownstown, IN. Each race will pay $2,000 to win with a final payout of the $4100 point fund.
