| Debbie Friesner Lady To Contend With On The Track; Off Track She's Running New Carb Business | BY CHUCK WELSH -KARNAC
Crothersville, IN...Debbie Friesner is the only woman who ran at the Bloomington Speedway in the Indiana Super Stock division in 2003. Debbie lives a very busy life with owning and operating a company, being a distributor, and last but not least a race driver.
 Deb Friesner hot lapping.
Debbie is a 5 foot- 5 inch forty-something year old mother of two grown children, her 22 year old son (Toad who works on her crew), and a 20 year old daughter. She is also single, but told me she is still looking for the right one to come along. I believe with all the single men in the pits every race night she will find the right one soon.
Debbie's racing career started in the last half of 2001, at the Bloomington Speedway. After starting that late in the season she still finished 20th in the points. She and her crew chief (Vinnie) drive from Crothersville, IN on Friday nights to race with us. She didn't get to race as much as she wished in 2003 because she was so busy starting her own business--Automotive Logistic Center in Crothersville, IN. They rebuild alternators and starters for personal cars and race cars.
I know those of you in attendance at Bloomington Speedway heard the announcement for them on Friday nights at the track because they sponsored our division champions this past year with a certificate for work on their cars.
For 2004, Debbie has a Night Crawler Chassis with a new KMI Components engine and this is one lady the men will have to contend with in a big way. Along with a Night Crawler Chassis, KMI engines and other sponsors like Styles on You, and Puetts Auto repair she will run Bloomington on a weekly and Brownstown on a by-weekly basis. Debbie speaks very highly about the competitors she races with. All of them respect her as a woman but also as a race driver and this is a great tribute to everyone in the Super Stock division.
Debbie said with new equipment she hopes to be more competitive and "winning is the only thing left" for her to do.
Editor's Note: Knowing Debbie Friesner personally, I have to add, she has a very positive attitude and kind heart. She is a class act act on the track and in person! Have an opinion on this story? Post a message on the Message Board! or send a letter to the editor!
