Boggs, Thatcher And J.R. Heffner Have Lucky Friday 13th

JACKIE BOGGS, CRAIG THATCHER, AND J.R.HEFFNER HAVE LUCKY FRIDAY 13th AT VOLUSIA

BARBERVILLE, FL -- Friday the 13th brought three divisions of racing on the 11th night of Raceweeks action at Volusia Speedway Park.

A stout 56 car U.M.P. Late Model field saw Dan Stone out-qualify everyone at 16.909 seconds.

Five heat races were next as Stone, Robbie Blair, Greg Johnson, Jackie Boggs and Scott Bloomquist earned first-place honors.

Chub Frank and Don Cliburn each scored B-main victories.

The 30-lap A-main saw Blair lead the initial 10 circuits before Boggs took command and held off Bloomquist to become the ninth different winner in as many race nights. Steve Francis, Rick Eckert, Johnson, Blair, Stone, Bart Hartman, Kyle Berck and Duke Whiseant rounded out the top 10 finishers.

CRAIG THATCHER TAKES SECOND SUNSHINE FEATURE IN A ROW

A 39-car U.M.P. Modified field produced heat race winners Jimmy Owens, Greg Baumberger and Jim Shereck.

Gary Clark took dash honors among the top 6 in Raceweeks points.

The B-main found Russell Childress in victory lane.

The 30-lap finale saw Craig Thatcher win his second feature of the Sunshine State campaign over Owens, Clark, Steve Wetter, Chuck Haga, Kevin Sexton, Scott Orr, Michael Asbury, Shereck and Blake Jegtvig. The win also helped Thatcher score his second straight Florida State Championship.

J.R. HEFFNER CLAIMS FIRST CAREER WIN IN BIG BLOCK MODIFIED 30 LAP FEATURE

A 40-car DIRT Big Block Modified contingent boasted heat race winners Doug Hoffman, Keith Hoffman, J.R. Heffner and Vic Coffey.

Two B-main events were bagged by Tim McCreadie and Brett Hearn.

The 30-lap feature race found Heffner in victory lane for the first time -- not only in Florida, but ever. Pat Ward came home second, just edging hard charging Danny Johnson. Doug Hoffman came home in fourth, Dale Blanck was fifth, Alan Johnson came home sixth and Coffey finished seventh. It was the third straight time that Heffner scored a top-10 finish.

Saturday night's finale includes Northern DIRT Modifieds and U.M.P. Super Late Models.
