Outlaws to Write History By Brian Dunlap
WoO LMS Public Relations West Fargo, North Dakota (August 4, 2004) The weekend of August 6th and 7th will be one for the World of Outlaws Late Model Series record books, as the Dirty Dozen get set to compete for the largest purse in series history at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, ND. The best late model drivers in the country will come together to test their skills to bring home their share of the event purse valued at over $125,000. Friday night's line up will feature qualifying, heat races, and a 15 lap Dash-for-Cash. The Dash-for-Cash will include the WoO Dirty Dozen along with Rookie of the Year contenders John Blankenship and Tim McCreadie, mixing it up for the $1,000 top prize and weekend bragging rights. Friday's excitement is just the beginning up North as the series will return to the track on Saturday to finish out the special two-day event. Saturday night's program will consist of consolation races with drivers fighting to make it into the main event, and Friday night's heat race winners competing in the dash to determine the main event starting order. Following the consolation races and dash, the real action will take place as drivers strap in and take to the dirt for the action packed A-main event. This 75 lap race will go down in WoO Late Model Series history as the highest paying race to date as the race winner will take home a check worth $40,000. Red River Valley Speedway promoter Bruce Olson is looking forward to promoting this record setting event. “The fans in this area don't get to see many late model races and are excited to have the chance to see the Dirty Dozen and the Outlaws,” remarked Olson. “The purse and the $40,000 to-win speaks for itself, it should be quite a show.” Scott Bloomquist in the #0 Miller Brothers Coal/Hawkeye Trucking/Custom Race Engines/Allstar Performance/Hoosier Tire/Sweet Manufacturing Ford Taurus, looks strong coming into this race as he has recently regained the points lead over Steve Francis's #15 Valvoline/Mopar/Freeport Recycle Center/Action Auto Mart/Rocket Chassis Dodge Intrepid. Bloomquist has had a strong season and has won several big money events this season including the Dream, the prestigious Eldora race paying $100,000.
