Wisc. (Aug. 11, 2004) - Goodyear has extended one of the most creative racing enticement programs in recent short track racing history to include the Aug. 5-7 USA Nationals Xtreme DirtCar event at Cedar Lake Speedway.
The Goodyear Driver Assurance Program, which is aimed at helping regional teams compete with the nationally prominent stars of the Stacker2 Xtreme DirtCar Series, will be offered to the first 25 teams to pre-register for the event that are not running for an Xtreme series championship.
Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for Xtreme racing. The Driver Assurance Program has been offered at several Stacker2 races this season and has proven to be popular on every occasion.
"This program, with the added participation of the folks at Cedar Lake Speedway, gives a local driver a chance to buy one tire and have a chance at starting the race and winning a minimum of $2,000," said Justin Fantozzi, Goodyear's sales and marketing manager for late model dirt. "There were 73 cars at the last Xtreme race at Cedar Lake, many of them from the local area." The program offers two front tires from Goodyear and two front rims from Weld Wheels to eligible teams, free of charge. The rims and tires must be returned at the end of the evening. Cedar Lake's management has added a left rear tire to the offer. For the USA Nationals, Goodyear will supply teams with the X-300 tread compound.
"The teams that raced on our tires for the first time liked them," said Fantozzi. "The X-300 tire provides plenty of grip and is a very robust tire. The competitors have been very happy with it this season." The USA Nationals will mark the second event of the season at Cedar Lake for the Xtreme organization. The USA Nationals pays $40,000 to the winning driver and pays $2,000 to all who start the main event.
