PENDLETON, Ind. (December 16, 2003) - Iowa's only paved racetrack, Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, will continue a successful relationship with the ASA Member Track program for the 2004 season. This marks the third consecutive season the .50-mile oval has been involved with the growing weekly racing program.

"Our racers appreciate the contribution ASA makes to our points fund," said Jim Amstutz, general manager and race director for Hawkeye Downs Speedway. "With some of the plans of the Member Track program, we are excited about the future
working with the entire staff of ASA Racing."

Hawkeye Downs Speedway will also host the ASA Late Model Series on Saturday, September 4, signing a five-year agreement to host this division on Labor Day
Weekend.

"We are trying to get our Late Model rules in line with the ASA Late Model Series rules. Next season we are going to make several key rule changes and by 2005, our Late Model rules will be nearly identical," said Amstutz. "Next season, we plan to make the
crate engines an option and the following season they'll be mandatory.

"With the ASA Late Model Series competing at Hawkeye Downs Speedway in September, our drivers, if they have the crate engines, will be able to compete. It will be the touring stars versus the local favorites. That was something that didn't exist with the ASA National Tour. We have enjoyed our relationship with ASA over the past 10 years, and hope to continue that relationship with the ASA Late Model Series and Member
Track program," said Amstutz.

The former Frontier Park and Cedar Rapids Speedway has been an Iowa racing tradition since 1925. In 1989, the old .50-mile dirt track was revamped into Iowa's first paved half-mile oval with a .25-mile oval within the larger track. The nationally touring ASA Racing Series has an impressive history at Hawkeye Downs Speedway totaling 17
appearances since July 4, 1994. The newly acquired ASA Late Model Series will make its debut at Hawkeye Downs in September of 2004.

The ASA Member Track program is designed for weekly short track venues to make available many of the policies, principles, procedures and components that have made the American Speed Association a premier short track sanctioning body for 36 years.

Participating tracks receive contributions to their year-end points fund, marketing opportunities, and join a small, select group of elite tracks displaying the ASA Member Track logo.

ASA Member Tracks showcase exciting competition with their local racing programs, providing training grounds for the ASA Racing stars of tomorrow. Through the ASA Member Track program, "We Build Champions. "

The American Speed Association offers racing on three levels: ASA National Tour, ASA Late Model Series and through the rapidly expanding ASA Member Track program.
