| Monday, November 24, 2003 | | | Kenny Adams powers to USCS "Asphalt Thunder" Tour Title | Atlanta, GA. - The "Malabar Missle" Kenny Adams from Malabar, Florida powered to 7 wins in 12 races in the five state USCS "Asphalt Thunder" tour pavement track series. Adams, who dominated that portion of the USCS season, received his well deserved accolades at the USCS Champions Luncheon held at the Special Events Center in the suburban Atlanta city of Newnan on Saturday.
Adams drove his Goodson Farms, Inc./ Putnam County Speedway / Got Milk?/ Coca Cola sponsored red #4 Shaw car to new track records at five of the ovals. Adams claimed the title with 1924 points and another great year on pavement to go with his career best 27 wins in all races. His other five finishes on pavement included a second, a third, two fourth place finishes and a fifth at Senoia Speedway after leading and having a tire go flat late in the race.
2003 USCS National Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee finished just behind Adams in the standings with 1860 points and won two of the USCS pavement events at Florence Motor Speedway and at Huntsville Speedway on his Birthday. Gray had 11 top five finishes in the 12 events with five of those in second place behind Adams. Steady Ted Williams from Atlanta, Georgia, the 1999 USCS Asphalt Thunder "Top Rookie", strung together 3 top five and 9 top ten finishes and 1662 points to finish in third place followed by Jim Raptis from Marietta, Georgia who won an Asphalt Thunder event at Ace Speedway in North Carolina with 1618 points. Aubrey Black from Lookout Mountain, Georgia finished in fifth place in the standings with 1602 points.
Chris Hill fom Wedowee, Alabama, lead the second five in sixth place in the standings with consistency and was followed by the series 2003 "Top Rookie", Chase Taylor from Montgomery, Texas in seventh. USCS' 2002 top rookie driver Randy Weaver from Powder Springs, Georgia, finished eighth followed by Chris Rogers from Villa Rica, Georgia and USCS "Asphalt Thunder" Tour newcomer, Michael Craddock from Southaven, Mississippi completed the top ten.
Three flashy rookies were honored as well. Eighteen year old high school senior, Chase Taylor was awarded "Top Rookie honors in the division, his runnerup was Jimmy Taylor from Green Pond, South Carolina and Will Ragsdale from Easley South Carolina accumulated enough points for a third place trophy although running a limited schedule. Ragsdale showed his talent potental with two top five finishes. His best was a fourth place at Ace Speedway Have an opinion on this story?
