Pendleton, Ind. (November 14, 2003) - 17-year-old Georgian Reed Sorenson captured the $50,000 Rookie Championship, becoming the youngest competitor in ASA Racing Series history to do so. With an impressive season, Sorenson locked up the rookie championship after starting the Pep Boys 300 at Salem Speedway on October 4. At the conclusion of the season finale at Nashville, Sorenson won the prestigious award by 507 markers over Travis Kittleson.

Sorenson posted seven top-five finishes in 2003, with only three finishes outside the top 10. The 2003 season ended for Sorenson finishing in the 16th position, his lowest since the second event of the ASA Racing campaign at Houston Motor Speedway in Texas.

Piloting the ACDelco Chevrolet for Michigan-based Automotive Promotions Inc., Sorenson also produced five podium finishes with a best of second at Illiana Motor Speedway in the CITGO/MDA 250 presented by Jani-King in September. He posted four third-place finishes taking place at USA International Speedway, Hawkeye Downs Speedway, Mansfield Motorsports Speedway and Salem Speedway in Southern Indiana.

Travis Kittleson of Merritt Island, Fla., placed second in the rookie standings, producing five top-five finishes, with a season-best runner-up performance at Concord Motorsport Park in April. Driving the Bob Steele Chevrolet, Kittleson also grabbed third-place honors at Toledo Speedway, fourth at Mansfield Motorsports Speedway and fifth at USA International Speedway in the Jani-King 200.

Davin Scites of West Virginia was third in the rookie standings after placing 21st in the season ending BFGoodrich Traction T/A Tires 300. The driver of the Wayne Lumber & Mulch/Scrap Vinyl Chevrolet scored the biggest victory of his career in April, winning the BFGoodrich Tires 250 at Concord Motorsport Park, passing series veteran Mike Garvey on the final lap of the event. Illinois competitor Boris Jurkovic finished fourth in the rookie point standings, listing a
32nd place finish at the .596-mile Nashville Fairgrounds oval. Jurkovic recorded the best outing of his career at Indianapolis Raceway Park, crossing the line in fourth spot. Driving the Reliable Recovery Chevrolet, Jurkovic produced one top-five finish and two top-10s.

Ohio's Kris Stump is fifth in the freshman standings, after being listed 35th at Nashville. Driving the Noah Yoder Ford, Stump posted a best finish of ninth at Indianapolis Raceway Park.
