Balm, Fla. - Tragedy struck just before noon today when USCS driver Kenny Adams' crew member and Goodson Farms, Inc race team member William "Billy" Harter was killed when debries from a helicopter crash apparently struck him while filming Donn Goodson and Donnie "Red" Taylor (crew chief for USCS Champion Terry Gray) as Goodson and Taylor were apparently approaching the landing area on Goodson's farm in Balm, Florida after giving Taylor a guest flight over the farm. Gray was standing shoulder to shoulder with Harter when the accident occured but was unscathed.

The helicopter crashed to the ground into two pickup trucks from early reports and Goodson and Taylor were life flighted to Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Florida and in surgery at 1pm this afternoon. As of 8 p.m tonite E.D.T. Goodson was still undergoing surgery and Taylor was from reports by friends at the hospital, out of surgery and in intensive care.
