Large Stock Car Counts Expected this Weekend at Nashville Fairgrounds

Speedway Pendleton, Ind. (October 16, 2003) - Just a couple days prior to the ASA Racing Series' BFGoodrich Traction T/A Tires 300 and the Patriot 200 late model event sanctioned by the Southern All-Stars and Sunoco Super Series at Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, American Speed Association Officials are expecting large car counts for both events at the .596-mile oval.

For ASA, its season-opening Jani-King 200 at USA International Speedway in Lakeland, Fla., produced 47 entries, the most in 2003. The series that builds champions has averaged 39 entries through the opening 16 events. ASA drew 45 entries in the CITGO/MDA 250 at Illiana Motor Speedway in September and also received 41 entries for the Greased Lightning Orange Blast 400 at Elko Speedway on Labor Day.

In 21 previous events at Fairgrounds Speedway, ASA has averaged 51 event entries. The record for entries at the Tennessee Fairgrounds oval is 79, which occurred in October of 1983. On 11 occasions, ASA has reached 50 or more entries at Nashville.

The Patriot 200 late model event currently has 47 entries with several drivers expected to file an entry at the track this weekend. Currently, 33 racers are from the North with 14 competitors from the South. The list is a who's who of late model racing in the country.

The BFGoodrich Traction T/A Tires 300 presented by Greased Lighting Orange Blast and Jani-King on Sunday, October 19, concludes a weekend of racing action at the historic Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville.

On Friday, ASA and the Patriot 200 competitors will have optional practice beginning at 11 a.m. The respective sessions conclude at 5:15 pm.

On Saturday, practice resumes at 10:30 a.m. with the Patriot 200 field set in pole qualifying at 2:30. ASA qualifying for the BFGoodrich Traction T/A Tires 300 presented by Greased Lighting Orange Blast and Jani-King takes place at 4. There will be two last chance events for the Patriot 200 beginning at 5:30 and 6 with the 200-lap main event going green at 8.

On Sunday, ASA's on-track fan autograph session and live musical entertainment are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. with pre-race ceremonies set for 2:30. The BFGoodrich Traction T/A Tires 300 presented by Greased Lighting Orange Blast and Jani-King goes green at 3 p.m. (Local)

Tickets for the BFGoodrich Traction T/A Tires 300 presented by Greased Lighting Orange Blast and Jani-King at Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville are general admission and sold for $20 each in advance or $25 each on race day. Children 12 years old and younger will be admitted free when accompanying a paying adult.

Tickets on Saturday for the Patriot 200 late model event are selling for $18 in advance and $20 on race day. If tickets are purchased for both days, the price is $35 for admission.
