Pendleton, Ind. (October 10, 2003) ? Scoring his fourth pole of the 2003 ASA Racing Series, Kevin Cywinski then led the initial 10 circuits of the Pep Boys 300 presented by Greased Lightning Orange Blast at Salem Speedway on Saturday, October 4. Under a caution period, Cywinski?s County Joe Racing crew was forced to replace a broken suspension part. This cost the point?s leader 30 laps in the pit area. Cywinski recovered to finish in 19th position, losing just 24 markers in the title battle.

With one event remaining in the 2003 season, Cywinski leads three-time ASA National Champion Butch Miller by 125 points. If Cywinski finishes 28th or better at the Fairgrounds Speedway at Nashville in the BFGoodrich Traction T/A Tires 300 presented by Greased Lightning Orange Blast and Jani-King, the Wisconsin competitor will secure his second championship in the series that builds champions.

Cywinski has collected 11 top-five finishes and 14 top-10s in 2003. Wheeling the Greased Lightning Orange Blast/SK Hand Tool Chevrolet for Country Joe Racing, Cywinski has scored his wins at Houston Motor Speedway, Mansfield Motorsports
Speedway, Jennerstown Speedway and Illiana Motor Speedway. He has also earned four poles, producing his most recent at Salem.

Butch Miller has collected 13 top-10 finishes, three wins and three poles. Miller?s victories have taken place at the season opening Jani-King 200 at USA International Speedway, Toledo Speedway and the BFGoodrich Tires 250 at Madison International
Speedway.

$50,000 Rookie of the Year Reed Sorenson continues to rank in the standings, after racking up another podium finish at Salem. Sorenson has recorded 14 top-10 and two poles. Sorenson clinched the rookie championship at Salem, becoming the youngest
competitor to win the prestigious award in ASA history.

2000 Rookie runner-up Robbie Pyle rose to fourth in the point standings, just 28 markers behind Sorenson. Driving for Wal-Tom Racing of Chicago, Pyle has collected eight finishes in the top five including victories at Lake Erie Speedway and Salem
Speedway. The Ohio racer has also produced five additional podiums.

Georgia?s Mike Garvey dropped to fifth in the standings, after placing 24th at Salem. He led 71 of the opening 81 laps, but was forced to pit road for suspension damage prior to lap 100. Garvey has won four events this season. Wheeling the Jani-King Chevrolet, Garvey has recorded wins at Lanier National Speedway, Hawkeye Downs Speedway, I-70 Speedway and Elko Speedway.

1995 ASA National Champion Bryan Reffner is sixth in the standings with second-year driver Todd Kluever in seventh spot and Rick Beebe climbing to eighth. Travis Kittleson is ninth with two-time event winner Peter Cozzolino rounding out the top 10.

The 17th event of the 2003 ASA Racing Series is set for Sunday, October 19 at Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, Tenn. The BFGoodrich Traction T/A Tires 300 presented by Greased Lightning Orange Blast and Jani-King takes the green flag at
3:00 p.m., (Local) and will be telecast live on SPEED Channel.
